Ministry of National Defense Released a Press Release Clarifying and Explaining on Media Coverages of “Annuity Reform Damages Military Dignity, Military Schools Admission Enters Miserable Phase” and “Shortage of Basic Level Cadres”. (June 28th, 2019)

Military Schools Admission Has Met the Standard, Impact from Annuity Reform Is a False Interpretation

Regarding the media coverages of “Annuity Reform Damages Military Dignity, Military Schools Admission Enters Miserable Phase” and “Shortage of Basic Level Cadres”, Ministry of National Defense has stated today (28th) that they are false interpretation, and has provided the following explanations:

1. Under various welfare policies, support from the citizens, and the exertive “Equal Importance in Quality and Quantity” promotion and recruitment, the full-term officer class program for military schools in 2019 has enrolled 1,614 cadets, admitted 1,796 cadets, with a total admission rate of 111.2%.

2. To establish a sustainable mechanism for recruitment, and Armed Forces troops that are “Superior Quality, Strong Combat Capability, Disciplined, Faithful”, Ministry of National Defense utilizes diversified recruiting channels, including “ROTC”, “National Defense Cultivation Class”, and “National Defense Elite Bachelor Class”, which continues to elevate Armed Forces manpower and quality on top of the existing results. In addition, since the cadets from classes including the “Professional Officer Class” have began serving since July 12th, the compilation of lieutenants and second lieutenants has increased to 90%, which is able to satisfy the requirements of basic level cadets, in order to effectively implement various combat readiness and exercise procedures.
